Polybutadiene Rubber (BR)

High-cis polybutadiene rubber (typically nickel- or cobalt-catalyzed, cis-1,4 often ≥96%) is a stereoregular BR with high resilience, abrasion resistance, and good low-temperature properties, with relatively low heat buildup in dynamic parts. It is usually blended with NR or SBR rather than used alone.

Industry Applications

Tire treads and sidewalls, conveyor belts, footwear, golf balls, and other abrasion-resistant rubber goods. Neodymium BR (NdBR) is listed separately when ultra-high cis and even lower heat generation are required.
