Tetrahydrofuran (THF)

THF is a cyclic ether solvent with high solvency for many polar and nonpolar polymers. It is also the monomer feedstock for PTMEG (spandex/polyurethane soft segment) via ring-opening polymerization.

Industry Applications

Polymer dissolution (PVC, PU, specialty resins), pharmaceutical and fine-chemical reactions, Grignard chemistry, and PTMEG production.
