Polyisoprene Rubber (IR)
Synthetic polyisoprene (IR) is cis-1,4-polyisoprene made by solution polymerization of isoprene. High-cis grades follow natural rubber in tensile strength, resilience, and low heat buildup, with tighter control of purity and Mooney viscosity and without the proteins and other non-rubber constituents of NR. It is commonly blended with NR, SBR, or BR.
Industry Applications
Tire treads, carcasses, and sidewalls, medical and pharmaceutical goods, footwear, and other mechanical rubber articles that otherwise use natural rubber.
