Alkylphenolic Resin

Alkylphenolic resins (typically p-tert-butyl or octylphenol-formaldehyde types such as the 2402/2403 family) are oil-soluble thermoplastic or heat-reactive phenolics used as tackifiers and reinforcing resins in rubber. They build green tack, improve building tack in tire compounds, and can contribute hardness after curing.

Industry Applications

Tire compounding, conveyor belts, rubber adhesives, and other NR/SBR/BR recipes that need tack and reinforcement. Curing phenolics and p-tert-octylphenol tackifying novolacs are listed as their own subtypes.
