Thermoplastic Vulcanizate (TPV)
TPV is a thermoplastic vulcanizate. A rubber phase, most often EPDM, is dynamically crosslinked while it is dispersed in a melt-processable thermoplastic matrix, most often polypropylene. The cured rubber stays as fine particles in the plastic phase, so the compound can be injection molded, extruded, or blow molded, while the vulcanized phase supplies rubber-like elasticity, compression-set resistance, and heat aging.
Industry Applications
Automotive weatherseals, glass-run channels, bellows, and under-hood boots; industrial seals, gaskets, and hose covers; wire and cable jackets; appliance gaskets and soft-touch parts; and building profiles. Hardness and color are selected at inquiry.
