Xylene

Xylene is a C8 aromatic solvent (mixed ortho/meta/para isomers unless a single isomer is specified). It evaporates more slowly than toluene and is a standard high-solvency thinner for industrial coatings.

Paints and coatings, agrochemicals, adhesives, printing inks, and chemical intermediates (including phthalic anhydride from o-xylene).
