Styrene-Isoprene-Styrene Block Copolymer (SIS)

SIS is a styrenic thermoplastic elastomer with polystyrene end-blocks and a polyisoprene mid-block. The isoprene rubber phase gives high tack, low modulus, and easy compounding with tackifier resins, which is why SIS is the usual backbone for many hot-melt and pressure-sensitive adhesives.

Industry Applications

Hot-melt adhesives (HMA), pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA), tapes and labels, sealants, hygiene and medical adhesives, polymer modification, and elastomeric compounds. Styrene content, diblock level, and melt index are selected at inquiry.
