Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene Block Copolymer (SBS)

SBS is a styrenic thermoplastic elastomer with polystyrene end-blocks and a polybutadiene mid-block. It processes like a thermoplastic yet gives rubber-like elasticity without vulcanization. Linear and radial structures are both common; styrene content and molecular architecture set hardness, melt flow, and cohesion.

Industry Applications

Asphalt and bitumen modification (PMB/PMA for roads, roofing, and waterproofing), hot-melt and pressure-sensitive adhesives, plastic modification, compounding, sealants, and TPR/TPE footwear. Oil-extended and transparent SBS are listed separately when those forms are required.
